For Australian employers
Fair Work Pay Database checker for supported awards
AwardGuard is an independent interface for comparing supported employer-entered rates with adult base minimums sourced from the Fair Work Commission Modern Awards Pay Database. It adds a practical checking workflow while keeping the official database, award instrument, and Fair Work guidance as the authority.
What is the Fair Work Modern Awards Pay Database?
The Fair Work Commission’s Modern Awards Pay Database is an official source for modern award pay information. AwardGuard uses supported source rows to compare an entered hourly rate with an adult base minimum. It does not copy an entire pay guide or reproduce the award instrument.
How does AwardGuard use the source?
- Restrict the public comparison to five supported award codes.
- Match a selected classification to a source row.
- Only present a current minimum when the row is a fixed adult rate with an operative date.
- Show the source link and date context so the result can be verified.
Supported award codes
| Award | Code | Public scope |
|---|---|---|
| General Retail Industry Award 2020 | MA000004 | Adult base classifications |
| Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 | MA000009 | Adult base classifications |
| Fast Food Industry Award 2020 | MA000003 | Adult base classifications |
| Cleaning Services Award 2020 | MA000022 | Adult base classifications |
| Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 | MA000100 | Adult base classifications |
Why does the official award still prevail?
Source data can change, classifications can be fact-specific, and a worker’s entitlements can include conditions beyond a base rate. The applicable modern award and official Fair Work guidance are controlling if there is any difference between a product comparison and the instrument.
See the full source register and public limitations before relying on an output.
What AwardGuard does not determine
AwardGuard does not decide which award, coverage clause, classification, employment arrangement, or entitlement applies to a person. It does not replace the award instrument, Fair Work Ombudsman tools, payroll advice, workplace-relations advice, or legal advice.
- Apprentice rates are not covered.
- Junior results, where available, are estimates and need pay-guide verification.
- Penalties, allowances, overtime, breaks, and other conditions need separate review.
- Enterprise agreements and above-award arrangements are outside this general comparison.
Verify figures and coverage in the Fair Work Commission Modern Awards Pay Database, the relevant Fair Work Ombudsman pay guide, and the applicable award instrument.
Common questions
- Is AwardGuard the Fair Work Pay Database?
- No. AwardGuard is an independent software product operated by Mixma AI. It uses the Fair Work Commission Modern Awards Pay Database as a source for supported adult base-rate comparisons.
- What happens when an operative date is missing?
- AwardGuard does not present a fixed rate as a current minimum when the source row lacks an operative date. Users are directed to verify the official source.
